在全球的电子制造商中,联想电脑在最新的环保评选中居榜首。AMSTERDAM, Netherlands - One of China's electronic maker has been seen by some as the greenest business in the world. Computer maker Lenovo ranked in at the top spot of environmental group Greenpeace's latest quarterly ranking of global electronics manufacturers. Once at the bottom of the list, Lenovo now leads the way in recycling industrial waste and taking steps on controlling toxic content, Greenpeace said. "Given the growing mountains of e-waste in China -- both imported and domestically generated -- it is heartening to see a Chinese company taking the lead, and assuming responsibility at least for its own branded waste," said Iza Kruszewska, Greenpeace International's toxics campaigner, adding that "the challenge for the industry now is to see who will actually place greener products on the market." Lenovo bought out IBM's personal computer division in 2004. Apple, meanwhile, was placed at the bottom of the list of 14 companies

BEIJING, March 25 (Xinhua) -- China's upcoming growth enterprise board for small start-ups to raise funds is no threat to the main stock market, Yao Gang, new vice chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), said here Tuesday.     His comments followed continuous declines in China's bourses partly caused by fears of capital shortages after a series of restraining measures and huge refinancing.     "The market is not short of money but of better and more attractive investment products," said Yao in an online interview.     CSRC statistics showed the average market capitalization of the222 companies listed on the Shenzhen small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) board was only 300 million yuan.     The number would be even lower, ranging from 100 million to 200million yuan, on the growth enterprise board, he said.     Therefore the capitalization of listing 100 such enterprises would only match one major enterprise on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, he said.     The CSRC began to solicit opinions on the growth enterprise board on March 21. Shang Fulin, CSRC chairman, said in January the board would be opened on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in the first half of 2008.     Lack of finance has been a problem for China's 42 million small and medium-sized enterprises, more than 95 percent of which are privately owned.     Less than 2 percent of the SMEs access funds directly from the financial market, according to statistics from the National Development and Reform Commission.

The average wedding cost in urban China hits a record of 560,000 yuan (US,572), and young couples are heavily depending on parents' financial aids to pave the way for their marriages, reported the Jiefang Daily Friday.2006 China Wedding Expo was held at Beijing Exhibition Center from August 11-13. Various wedding photos and other related wedding outfits had been exhibited during the expo. [CRI]The 560,000 yuan is based on some 60,000 valid questionnaires of a recent survey conducted by the Committee of China Wedding Expo.According the survey, the wedding related expense, honeymoon, new house and car are prime contributors to the soaring marriage cost in the urban area. The wedding related cost, including wedding picture, dress, ceremony, feast, jewelry is 139,557 yuan in average. The average costs of honeymoon and a new car are 9,227 yuan and 94,800 yuan respectively. Housing expense fuels the marriage cost by adding 308,600 yuan in average. According to the survey, 81.6 per cent of young couples' marriages are funded by their parents. No matter parents finance some of it, half of it or all of it. "Parents are the young couple's first-choice sponsor of their luxurious wedding," said Liao Junguo, the director of the data center of China Wedding Expo. "I am willing to give my boy a hand as it is a tradition of Chinese parents to take care of their children's wedding," a senior surnamed Zhang said. The skyrocketing marriage cost in urban area put many engaged couples in an awkward position when it comes to the question of getting married. Love and marriage go together like a horse and carriage, but the carriage nowadays is loaded with money.

The country's roaring stock market and soaring property prices have generated wealth for so many that the mainland now has more billionaires than any place other than the United States, according to a list released Wednesday. The list has 106 US dollar billionaires, compared with 15 last year and none in 2002, according to the popular annual The Hurun Rich List - compiled by Shanghai-based independent analyst Rupert Hoogeperf.Out of the top 10, nine own listed companies - six are real estate developers and two also derive a large percentage of their wealth from real estate, indicating that the country's economic growth is largely driven by construction and manufacturing. The total wealth of the 800 richest Chinese reached 9.3 billion, or 16 percent of the country's GDP last year. Their average wealth more than doubled in the past year to 2 million."China's richest have reaped windfalls from a sharp hike in property prices and the burgeoning stock markets," said Hoogeperf. But Beijing-based investment banker Andrew Zhang said: "The list shows up bubbles in the economy. The rich have accumulated their wealth with little technology, branding or international networks."Yang Huiyan - the 26-year-old woman who was No 1 on Forbes wealth list released this week - remains top on the Hurun list with a personal fortune reaching .5 billion, transferred from her property developer father. Her fortune comes from a 59.5 percent stake in Country Garden Holdings, a South China real estate developer founded by her father. BEIJING -- China's first lunar probe Chang'e-1 will fly to the moon orbit with no more orbital corrections, a scientist told Xinhua on Saturday.Tang Geshi, a scientist with the Beijing Aerospace Control Center (BACC), said that the center will order the satellite to apply the first break at about 10:00 on Monday with no more planned orbital corrections.BACC carried out an orbital correction of Chang'e-1 on Friday, about nine days after its launch. "The correction has made the satellite run accurately in the transforming orbit heading to the moon, and another correction planned on November 4 will be unnecessary," Tang said. The Chang'e-1 lunar probe has been flying at a speed of 500-meter per second to the space where the moon's gravity could capture it.It has completed four orbital transforms and one halfway correction and is expected to enter the moon orbit on November 5.China's first lunar probe, Chang'e-1, named after a fairy-tale Chinese goddess who flew to the moon, blasted off on a Long March 3A carrier rocket on Oct. 24 from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwestern Sichuan Province.

WUHAN: The China Enterprise Confederation (CEC) has released its latest list of the country's top 500 companies.State-owned China Petrochemical Corporation, also called Sinopec, was the largest company by revenue, with 1.06 trillion yuan (9.5 billion) in 2006. It was the only company to top 1 trillion yuan.Foreign trade dealer Zhucheng Waimao Co Ltd ranked 500. The Shandong province-based company recorded 7.216 billion yuan.Companies in the list witnessed a 23.7 percent increase in revenue and 25.9 percent hike in profits from the previous year, largely because of continued growth from mergers and acquisitions. However, the money-earning performance of the 500 still falls far behind that of the world's top 500 as compiled by Forbes.China's top performers recorded a modest 4.72 percent on profit margin, lower than the average 7.32 percent of the world's top 500, the CEC report said. The return on equity of the top 500 was 10.1 percent, much lower than the 16.1 percent of the world's top 500."The top 500 China is still mainly ranked in size instead of performance," Li Wei, deputy director of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council said."That is a gap between China and developed countries."A total of 22 Chinese companies were among the world's top 500 in 2007. Sinopec, the largest company in China, ranked 17th."China's top firms have still focused their business on traditional industries, mainly manufacturing," Yang Du, professor at Renmin University of China, said.As many as 280 companies, accounting for 56 percent of the top 500 are from manufacturing industries, and less than 30 percent are from service-related industries.China's top 500 have been continually expanding, with 131 of them, merging and acquiring some 408 other businesses last year."But these merger and acquisition (M&A) activities are mainly limited within the same industries and few of the M&A deals are cross-industries," Yang said.Among the top 500, 96 are headquartered in Beijing and 40 are from East China's Jiangsu Province.
